I'm currently experiencing problems with empire total war(during the copyright screen the game shuts down and windows gives you its 'empire total war has stopped working' message). I first experienced this problem after i un-installed the ACW Mod and since then i have.1)Re-installed Empire 3 times + steam2)Verifyed my game cache3)Tried running the game with steam offline4)Playing the game with firewall off5)Run as administrator6)Changed Compatibility settings7)Restored to previous settingsNone of these things have worked so far and i continue to get the same message and its infuriating. Lastly, i have run the game before on this computer so i know its not a system issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there.Try this:1) Control panel - System - Advanced System Settings - Advanced - Performance- Settings - Data Execution Prevention.2) Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.3) Select the check box next to the program.exe that you want to turn off DEP for, and then click OK.If the program is not in the list, click Add. Browse your computer, find the exe file for ETW, and then click Open. Select the check box next to the program that you want to turn off DEP for, and then click OK.I hope this helps.
Help is finally on the way, with a late apology from the Empire Total War developpers. (After they got my money a month ago and i wasted a week on an constantly crashing to desktop campaign) You can find it here, from the guy who wrote the memory manager, Guy Davidson. All of the sudden about 5-10 minutes into the game the screen would black out and a message would appear saying ' Empire: Total War has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.'
